Obituary for Audie Ray Harris

Audie Ray  Harris
Mr. Audie Ray Harris, resident of McCrory, Arkansas departed this life on Sunday, November 19, 2017 from the Unity Health-White County Medical Center of Searcy at the age of 80. He was born in Kirkville, Mississippi on May 23, 1937, the son of the late Audie Ford and Lessie Ree McAnally Harris.

Mr. Harris had married Bonnie Dixon Harris on October 23, 1958 and spent 57 years together before her passing on May 25, 2015. He loved the outdoors, and for most of his life he worked out in the agriculture field. Mr. Harris was of the Baptist faith and in earlier years, he hunted rabbit and squirrel. He along with his wife had a large vegetable garden where they shared with family and friends. He enjoyed playing country and western songs on his guitar, watching westerns and the shows of the 60’s and 70’s. But his greatest enjoyment of all was spending time with his family.

Mr. Harris is preceded in death by his parents, Audie and Lessie Harris, his wife, Bonnie Dixon Harris, one brother, Douglas Harris, four sisters, Ann Brown, Eva Jean Ford, Bobby Lefan and Rita Posey.

Mr. Harris is survived by his daughter, Glenda Curtis and husband Ronnie of McCrory, Arkansas, his granddaughter, Rachel Dewitt and husband Stephen and great-grandson, Avery Wayne Dewitt of McCrory, Arkansas, two sisters, Ruby Franks and husband Bill of Racine, Wisconsin and Carolyn Bolen and husband Gary of Hazelhurst, Mississippi.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Charles Morris, Jay Whitehead, T. J. Whitehead, Tony Whitehead, Stephen Dewitt and James Tubbs.

Memorials may be made in his memory to the McCrory First Church of the Nazarene P. O. Box 412 McCrory, Arkansas 72101.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21st with 2:00 p.m. funeral services following at the Thompson-Wilson McCrory Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Woodman Cemetery.
