Donald Ray  Garner
Donald Ray Garner, resident of Patterson, Arkansas and lifelong resident of Woodruff County departed this life on Sunday, July 1, 2018 from the Unity Health – White County Medical Center of Searcy at the age of 77. He was born in Augusta, Arkansas on September 30, 1940 the son of the late Emmett C. and Willie Reynolds Garner.

Mr. Garner had a Huckleberry Finn childhood, as a young boy he hunted and fished the Cache River with his brother, Cecil and also hunted coon. He was a 1960 graduate of the Laura Connor High School of Augusta and married Miss Frances Lee on September 7, 1962 where they had spent 55 years together. Although they had no children of their own, they had many children at their house over the years. Mr. Garner was a fine Christian man and faithfully attended Faith Baptist Church. He was loved by all that knew him and always went above and beyond to help those in need. Mr. Garner had worked for over 18 years for Unity Health where he had driven a bus to pick up the elderly, taking them to the center, delivering hot meals or grocery shopping. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting treasures with his metal detector.

Mr. Garner is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Willie Garner and one sister, Brenda Garner.

Mr. Garner is survived by his wife, Frances Lee Garner of the home, two sisters, Patsy Horner and husband Robert of Riverside, Emily Garner of Bella Vista, one brother, Cecil Garner and wife Carol of Bella Vista, many nieces and nephews and two very special people, Phillip Norton and Rebecca Carney of whom he loved dearly.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be George Garner, Gerald Garner, Richard Gossett, Robert Horner, Charles Norton and Van Scott.

The family requests that memorials may be sent to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Pl Memphis, TN 38105 or Faith Baptist Church 36 Woodruff 409 McCrory, Arkansas 72101.

Visitation for Mr. Garner will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 5th with 2:00 p.m. funeral services following at the Thompson-Wilson McCrory Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Woodman Cemetery.
