Obituary for Leon Creasey

Leon  Creasey
Ernest Leon Creasey, resident of Mountain View and former resident of Morton departed this life on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at the age of 75. He was born in Pumpkin Bend on January 5, 1943, the son of the late E. G. Creasey and Ethel Ruby Bailey.

Mr. Creasey had attended Morton and McCrory Schools and was a member of Morton Baptist Church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and for most of his adult life he worked in the construction business. Between the years of 1982 to 1990 he was elected as the Woodruff County Sheriff and served the county proudly. On June 3, 1995 he married Miss Katherine Tyler and they spent 23 years together. He enjoyed being outdoors fishing, riding horses, trail riding, going to horse shows, riding motorcycles, woodworking and most of all spending time with his family.

Mr. Creasey is preceded in death by his parents, E. G. and Ethel Creasey, four brothers, J.D "Pete" Creasey, A.D. “Red” Creasey, Carl Lee Creasey, Ray Creasey, two sisters, Geraldine Holmes and Sarah Thomas.

Mr. Creasey is survived by his wife, Kathy Creasey of the home, two sons, Mike Creasey of McCrory, Rusty Creasey and wife Erin of McCrory, two daughter, Courtney Stovall and husband Daniel of McCrory, Stephanie Gailey and husband Jeff of Benton, one brother, Edward Creasey and wife Betty of Tumbling Shoals, seven grandchildren, Kaylee Creasey, Nicholas Stovall, Kendall Stovall, Natalie Creasey, Myleigh Creasey all of McCrory, Ainslee Theodore and Jaiden Kubena both of Benton.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Tommy Childress, Timmy Miller, Randy Odom, Bill Crawford, Nicholas Stovall and Sheriff Phil Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers will be Forrest Brewster, Sheriff Lance Bonds, Jack Caperton, Greg Berryman, Mark Badgley, Chuck Jones, Bruce Gore, Jay Eldridge, J. A. Wampler, Donnie Lindsey, Mike Rogers and Dwight Havens.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 5th between the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 6th all at the Thompson-Wilson McCrory Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Pumpkin Bend Cemetery.
