Obituary for Faye Hampton (Rains)

Faye Hampton (Rains)
Mrs. Faye (Rains) Hampton, resident of Wynne, departed this life on Friday, September 28, 2018, at St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro at the age of 72. She was born in McClelland on Thursday, January 31, 1946, the daughter of Mr. Tom Rains and Mrs. Opal (Stain) Rains.

Faye and Mr. Norman Louis Hampton were united in marriage on August 15, 1962. They resided in Tilton until 1969 when they relocated to Wynne. In 1971 they built their family home, commonly referred to as Hampton Hill, where they raised their family. Mrs. Hampton worked at Addison Shoe Factory and Johnson’s Freeze Inn. She also worked at Kelly’s Restaurant where she could always be found behind the counter dressed and decorated for the particular holiday season.

Faye enjoyed sewing and shopping, and had a passion for the outdoors. She loved fishing, camping, and sitting on her patio. She also loved to travel to Tennessee to see her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and to the casino, but her favorite place to travel was the beach. Over the last seven months, Faye fought a tough battle with sickness, but whether at home or the cancer center, she was never without a smile or a positive and kind word. Faye was an inspiration to her family, and to all the lives she touched, and will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know her.

Mrs. Hampton was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 55 years, Norman Hampton; a daughter, Sherry Kaye Hampton; five brothers, Allie, Jay, Claud, Clarence, and Johnny Rains; and two sisters, Lucille King and Juanita Cox.

She is survived by a son, Brad Hampton of Wynne; a daughter, Sheila Hampton-Foriska and fiancé, Alan, of Decatur, Tennessee; two sisters, Geneva Cole and Florence Warren; two grandchildren, Kristen Foriska-Roberts and Dustin Foriska; four great grandchildren, Kailey Roberts, Kaden Roberts, Jordan Foriska, and Kendall Ellison; her ever-faithful sidekick, Nurse Sophie; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018, in the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home chapel in Wynne with Brother Tom Rains officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Springs Cemetery near Harrisburg.

Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2018.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jeff Rains, Bryan Rains, Jeff Harrison, Windell Allen, Dylan Rains, and Blake Korbell. Honorary pallbearers are Dustin Foriska and Robert Melton.

Donations may be made in Faye’s honor to the American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org.
