Mr. Wilson Fred Patrick Russell, Sr., resident of Hickory Ridge, departed this life on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at CrossRidge Community Hospital in Wynne at the age of 86. He was born in Wynne on Thursday, March 17, 1932, the son of Mr. Dave Russell and Mrs. Lula Mae (Sutton) Russell.
Mr. Russell proudly served his country in the Korean War, and on June 17, 1966, Pat and Virginia Nesler were united in marriage. He was a member of Feltner Assembly of God Church in Cherry Valley where he was a Sunday School teacher, song leader, assistant Sunday School Superintendent, and a member of the Feltner Quartet. After the passing of three members of the quartet, Mr. Russell continued to sing solo. He was a former Hickory Ridge City Councilman and American Legion member. Pat retired from the Arkansas Highway Transportation Department after 30 years of dedicated service. After retirement, Mr. Russell built a mechanic shop where he worked for another 20 years. Pat was wholly dedicated to his work and his family.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, five sisters, and two half-sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Virginia Russell of the home; two sons, Pat Russell, Jr., and wife, Amy, of Truman; and Sadolph Russell and wife, Samantha, of Wynne; two daughters, PaMella Martin and husband, Tommy, of Wynne; and Retha Beshears and husband, Don, of Wynne; a sister, Ann Jones of Wynne; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2018, in the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home chapel in Wynne with Brother Tony Busby and Brother Curtis Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Lewis Cemetery at Hickory Ridge.
Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 12, 2018.
