Winnie Lee  McNeely (Dickerson)
Winnie Lee Dickerson McNeely resident of the Pumpkin Bend Community departed this life on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from the comfort of her home with her family by her side at the age of 102. She was born in the Morton Community on July 22, 1918, the daughter of William Pitt and Erna Sparks Dickerson.

Ms. Winnie attended Morton Schools and was a Charter Member of the Morton Baptist Church where she worked with the children for Vacation Bible School. On May 9, 1935 she married Leo McNeely, Sr. and raised six children together before his death on April 21, 1998. In earlier years, Ms. Winnie quilted and sewed for her family and kept a spotless house. She was known to cook her family’s favorite dishes without having a recipe. Her greatest enjoyment was being outdoors, tending to her chickens and cats and working a variety of flowers in her garden with her favorite flower being a rose. Ms. Winnie canned from her labor of her vegetable garden for her family with some of their favorites being homemade soup, green beans, grape jelly and blackberry jam. She had a love for Christmas and always decorated or had the family to help her in the decorations. Ms. Winnie loved spending time with her family and raised most of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ms. Winnie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Leo McNeely, Jr., two daughters, Juanita Planchon, Patty Nelson, three brothers, Eastman Dickerson, J. C. Dickerson, Kaylor Dickerson, four sisters, Eloise Cox, Patsy Ingram, Edrie Woodall, Iva Reed, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Ms. Winnie is survived by three daughters, Oneida Williams of McCrory, Joyce James of England, Arkansas, Lou Ann McNeely of Pumpkin Bend, one brother, M.H. “Nookie” Dickerson of Pocahontas, Arkansas, eleven grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, thirty-five great-great grandchildren and four great-great-great grandchildren.

The family requests that memorials may be sent to Morton Baptist Church 120 Woodruff 461 McCrory, Arkansas 72101 or to Patients Choice Hospice 4200 N. Washington St. Suite 2 Forrest City, Arkansas 72335.

Ms. Winnie’s family would like to thank Patients Choice Hospice for the care they had received for their mother.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Cole Edwards, Wayne Jackson, Ferrell Payne, Wayne Payne, Zach Rickman, Andy Wallis, Tracy Warner and Travis Warner. Honorary pallbearers will be Rusty Beshears, James Nelson, Brandon Walker and Stephen Warner.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Morton Baptist Church with Bro. Greg Dewitt, officiating. Interment will be in Pumpkin Bend Cemetery. Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home of McCrory will be in charge of the services.

Friends may visit at the church between the hours of 9 a.m. until service time.
